Zeitgeist History
Every program's tier, every year since 1936 — five bands from Dynasty down to Regional Program, real title-gate math, and a receipt behind every rise, fall, and near-miss. Search your team below, click any row to open its full story, or hit play and watch the whole board reshuffle year by year. Part of the Zeitgeist List.
What do the tiers and floors mean?
Each program gets a single composite score from 0–100 built from on-field performance, program achievement, roster talent, and results against ranked teams. That score sorts every team into one of 14 tiers, grouped into 5 bands. A "floor" is the score a team has to clear to hold a tier — cross it and you're promoted or demoted the next time the board updates. Dynasty is capped at one occupant and comes with a 3-year "title gate": win it, and you hold Dynasty only as long as that title stays within the window before it expires back out.
Historical seasons are scored under the site's current methodology, applied consistently back to 1936 — not as they would have been ranked at the time. One ruler, ninety-one years: no program that ever reached the top four tiers has fallen off the board since.
