Down 28-14 in the fourth quarter with Tua sidelined (ankle, the second time he'd been pulled mid-game in a year), Saban put Hurts in. Hurts ran for the tying score, threw the go-ahead, and Alabama won 35-28 to lock up the SEC and the Playoff. The redemption arc for Hurts (benched at halftime of the previous January's title game by the same coach in the same building against the same opponent) is the era's tidiest narrative loop. He transferred to Oklahoma the following spring.
