DeBoer's two years at Washington (11-2, 14-1) produced the Pac-12's last conference championship and the program's first national-title-game appearance since 1991. Penix's two-year passing-game implementation, the offensive-line continuity, the wide-receiver corps that produced Odunze and Polk as first-rounders — the operation peaked in the 14-1 January 2024 NCG loss to Michigan. The Alabama job opened the next week. The Washington program has not yet recovered from the rapid turnover.
